Minami-Bousou City tour

JBS organized the "Members Tour to Minamiboso, Chiba" on June 7, Saturday with 71 participants, consisting of 15 Belgians, including Ms. Kathleen Dierick, spouse of Belgian Ambassador and Minister-counselor Van de Voorde. JBS president Kaneo Ito and his wife, Mr. Junichi Nakamura, vice president (former Japanese ambassador to Belgium) also joined the tour. Minabiboso has been developing friendly relations with Blankenberge, Belgium through the annual walking event since several years ago. Our tour was fully backed up by Mayor Yutaka Ishii and his city government and every participant could thoroughly enjoy various traditional events, such as "Dragnet Fishing" and "Fan Making" experience under exceptionally fine weather, despite the midst of rainy season.

1. Snapshots during bus transport, self-introduction of every participant and chatting
2. Tour of the historical old temple, "Nihon-ji" and a sight seeing of a huge statue of Buddha and 1500 stone statues
3. Dragnet Fishing experience at Iwai beach & a large catch of fish !
4. Official reception at natural inn, "Kusunoki" and a warm welcome by traditional music, "rice pounding" demonstration and lunch with fresh fish right from the dragnet fishing and rice cake
5. Traditional "Fan Making" and Relaxing in the "Foot Bath" at Tomiura Genki Club
6. "Loquat Pick" at the farm of Tomiura, tasting rich flavor of loquat right from trees
7. Toward the end of excursion, pleasant fatigue from rambling, dragnet fishing, rice pounding and loquat pick
